Quirky Bohemian Styled Shoot

Quirky Bohemian Styled Shoot

I recently joined up with a bunch of extremely talented people to shoot a unique Styled Photo-Shoot at Worton Park in Oxfordshire, featuring Rosie Red Corsetry designed dresses. After a chance meeting in Witney, whilst creating some promotional images for Jules Hair & Makeup Design and her amazing Glenda Vintage Powder Room, the idea of this shoot came about. Here’s a little bio of Rosie Red Corsetry:

“Rosie Red creates bespoke gowns and corsetry for event and bridal, for all body types. Rosie’s fundamental belief is that all body shapes and types deserve to feel beautiful. Combining fantasy and fairytale influences with her unique talent in pattern cutting and design proves for exciting results. Most notably Rosie Red has just dressed Billie Piper & by Helena Bonham Carter. She was named Helena Bonham Carter’s ‘new favourite young designer’. She has the fundamental belief that no dream is too big.”

The Dresses:
The dresses come from Rosie Red Corsetry & Couture’s Wild Rose collection and the Wild Rose Plus collection, inspired by the Birdcage dress worn by Helena Bonham Carter. The pieces are all individually bespoke made and combine couture techniques and soft tulle with the structure of corsetry. Rosie Red’s signatures can be seen throughout the collection including the embroidery of poetry and verse into the clothing, silk handmade roses and corsets lined with red satin. Rosie Red Corsetry & Couture are now working on the Language of Flowers, her next collection to be released later this year.

Jules Hair & Make-up Design

Jules pulled the initial idea for a quirky shoot together based around Glenda “The Vintage Powder Room”. Rosie Red’s dresses are so unique and Jules wanted the hair and make-up to emulate that. She visualised the dresses in a country setting and Worton Park kindly offered the usage of their Orchard. It was perfect and thanks to Jules all the logistic were taken care of!  Glenda was placed in the Orchard to form the background. The hair and make-up were stronger than the regular looks she works on at most weddings and the colours mixed with vintage edge were fun and could be used for alternative weddings.

Pretty Cake Company:

There has been great interest in the new trend of chalk-board wedding cakes. Chalkboards often feature at weddings, giving instructions or simply displaying some well written or poignant words. Sam from The Pretty Cake Companydecided that this photo-shoot would be perfect to showcase this type of cake. Choosing the Madness song ‘It Must Be Love’, the chorus lyrics were picked to sum up a bride and grooms feelings on their wedding day, simple but true. The Cake was finished with small arrangements of sugar lily of the valley which matched the ‘chalk drawn’ flowers on the cake.

Distinctive Petals:

The flowers were designed by Tracey from Distinctive Petals. The flowers based on the amazing design of the dresses, inspired by the scattered Rose petals which are a feature throughout Rosie Red’s designs. The idea for a swing inspired a bohemian look, which was decorated with natural stems of Soft Ruskus with Blossom and Roses & Forget me Nots to add a dash of colour.

Tracey used an old umbrella & created a lace effect base from different wires with threaded pearls. Fresh Rose petals were threaded alongside delicate Orchids with Bluebelle pips. Garlands of threaded flowers and rolled petals drape from the umbrella.

Tracey used vintage ladders & milk bottles to create a backdrop for the models, continuing the theme of threading flowers and threaded Carnation heads into garlands to hang between the ladders. On the steps of the ladders is a floral heart alongside vintage milk bottles filled with seasonal blooms to add a dash of colour.

A bridal bouquet was made using all Country Garden, just picked flowers, sourced from hedgerows & gardens and tied with wool. This is a fully biodegradable and eco friendly bouquet.

This is the most delicious photo shoot I have ever seen. The ladies are lovely. The gowns are exquisite. The settings are fantastic. I am gushing like a second year design student, though I am a 72 year old retired codger.
