Saturday 4th August 2012:
Back in early August & I had the pleasure of returning to Magdalen College, Oxford for Jo & Stuart’s stunning Wedding. Arriving early, it was so nice to experience the calmness of a summer morning around the cloisters and wandering around Magdalen’s extensive grounds with my camera…. Before nipping across the road to the Mecure Oxford Eastgate Hotel, where Jo & her Bridesmaids were preparing for all the fun of the day ahead. I love all the differing types of transport couples choose for their Wedding day, vintage cars tend to be small & Jo’s was certainly no exception! A friend had lent her the vintage Sunbeam for the day – but, travel to your Wedding in the car boot was a requirement! Big storm clouds were circling all day, but thankfully after the ceremony in the hugely impressive Magdalen College Chapel (the light was fantastic in there by the way), everybody emerged to a beautiful sunny & warm scene. Jo & Stuart had hired 50 white Wedding brollies “just in case” & boy where they needed during the drinks reception! Whilst the gospel choir sang their hearts to the sight & sound of a heavy rain shower as guests huddled under the cloisters & the brave ones put up their brollies. A quick change of plans with organising the group shots & everything got back on track, I took Jo & Stuart & the Wedding party around the College for a few portraits (in & out of the rain). The Wedding Breakfast, a scene straight out of Harry Potter, got into full swing & the storm clouds disappeared to leave a beautiful evening for more fun & games & a surprise balloon release in the main quad. The day was finished off in such a magical way with, Magdalen Bridge is well know for it’s punt so Jo & Stuart organised a spectacular exit, leaving on an Oxford Punt decorated with fairly lights – what an amazing & fun day!
