Digital InfraRed Woodland & Neon Fritillaries

Wednesday 5th May:

Over the last few days I have had the opportunity to get out with the camera a few times trying to capture some spring colour. I ventured out to a near-by field stacked full with Snake’s Head Fritillaries which are a beautifully delicate native wildflower. Some more info on Fritillaries can be found HERE. I ended up experimenting with blue gelled flash lights to get this first image I’ve called my “Neon Fritillary shot!” The hardest part in photographing these flowers was trying to avoid all the other nearby Fritillaries while getting down low enough.

I also ventured down to my local community woodland, called “Little Garden Wood”. I have been slowly capturing this small woodland as a personal project and this time decided to take my converted Digital InfraRed camera for a spin. Foliage especially lush new growth captures well in Digital InfraRed, I just love the surreal feel you get and I often use natural (not added in Photoshop) lens flare to add extra spice to an image.
